Cindi Hawke, Director of Catering

Cindi Hawke grew up in the "Boot Heel Area" of Kennet and Caruthersville.  She moved to Cape Girardeau when she was a senior in high school.  After graduating from Cape Central High School, she attended Southeast Missouri State University.  She also became a certified EMT in 1996.

Cindi has 30 years of experience in the food industry and loves every aspect of event and wedding planning.  She has worked for Ramada Inn and Holiday Inn as a Beverage Manager for 12 years, and the Cape Girardeau Country Club as a Banquet Manager for 5 years.  Cindi joined Chartwells as Catering Director in August, 2001.

Cindi has been happily married for 18 years.  Her hobbies and interests include:  being an avid reader (especially the daily newspaper), gardening and plants, wine tasting, traveling (when time allows), and is an avid animal lover. In retirement she would like to raise and breed Pomeranians.  She is also a Cardinal fan, and considers herself a Trivia Buff because she is a “warehouse of unusual facts and worthless information.”

What Cindi likes most about working on campus at Chartwells is the job changes daily and is a fast paced work environment.  She finds it interesting how the campus is its own self contained world.  She finds it a pleasure to watch individual students as they progress through the college years and enjoys seeing them finish and graduate and has had great experiences working with international students throughout the years.

When asked what her favorite meal was she replied, “My favorite meal is always changing because I work with such a great Chef (Chef Em).”  Chef Em’s Chicken Provencal is her current favorite, but an all time favorite of hers is Chicken Fried Steak because it’s a “southern thing.”

Catering Sales Coordinator

Chad Powell has been with Chartwells for the past two years, serving as an associate and most recently as Catering Sales Coordinator. Chad is originally from Biloxi, MS, and relocated to Southeast Missouri with his fiancé after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Chad previously worked as a catering supervisor for 3 years before starting his own title abstractor business. He is currently engaged to the lovely Freya, and enjoys the company of their dog Maynard and Iticus the cat. In his spare time, Chad enjoys hiking, winery hoping and saving the world on his XBOX 360.

Chad has really enjoyed his time in Southeast Missouri and wishes to thank everyone for welcoming him and making him feel at home. He has really enjoyed the atmosphere of campus and has observed that Cape is a thriving community with continual growth potential.

Chad also enjoys the catered meals Chartwells serves, particularly the Chicken Marcela because, “it has everything you need, a good sauce, mushrooms and chicken.”
